Citations Made Easy

Note: use MLA for many GHS projects; use APA (scroll down) for Psychology, Special Topics, FFA and science fairs. Remember that clicking on a link will open that link on this page, so you'll need to back-arrow to return to this page.

MLA -  First, open a blank page in MSWord and type "Works Cited" at the top. Then save this to your user name account on the H drive. Then open one browser window for Citation Machine  (choose MLA, then 'more')  and one with the website or database you are citing, if needed. This way, you can easily cut and paste from one application to another.

To make the citations look correct on your Works Cited page, select everything except the heading, then go to >Format > paragraph. Look for Indentation section (in the middle) and for Special choose Hanging. Look down that paragraph box for Spacing and choose Double. Finally, go back to your Works Cited page, take out any extra lines between entries and alphabetize by the first thing of each entry, whether author's last name or article title. Be sure to save your work!!

APA - First, open a blank page in MSWord and type "References"  centered at the top. Then save this to your user name account on the H drive. Then open one browser window for Citation Machine  (choose APA, then 'more')  and one with the website or database you are citing, if needed. This way, you can easily cut and paste from one application to another.
