Tips for applying for scholarships:

1) Make sure that you apply for the scholarship by its deadline.

2) Check the scholarship's requirements carefully. (For example, if a scholarship you are considering applying for is for someone majoring in math and you are majoring in English, then you would not apply for that scholarship. Also, look and see how much time it will take to complete the scholarship.  If it will take you more time to complete it than you have to invest (or want to invest), find some that you feel comfortable completing.

3) For scholarships that require essays, make sure before you submit the essays that you have at least two people read over each one (preferably, one being your English teacher).  Then, make corrections and have the two people (or two other people) read over them again and make your final corrections. It is very important that essays are well written!

4)  When filling out applications for scholarships CAPITALIZE PROPER NOUNS!
